Subject : The publisher writes to Currie pleased that their terms for proceeding with publication are acceptable to the Trustees of Burns’s estate.
Dear Sir
We were happy to find from your Letter that the Trustees of Burns’ Estate approve the Terms we had agreed upon for the Copyright of his Works, and shall be ready at any Time to sign the Memorandum Mr Roscoe is so obliging as to draw up for us –
Mr McCreery will probably have informed you that we wrote to him to say that we had settled the Business of the Paper, and that he might hope to receive a Parcel to begin with in a short Time – We also desired him to set up a Sheet of the Work and submit a Proof of it to your and Mr Roscoe’s Opinion, and at the same Time to send a Duplicate to us, in Case any little Alteration might strike us as worth suggesting – We took an Opportunity, likewise, of giving him a Hint with Regard to the sending out his first Proofs as correct as possible, and in a Letter we have since received from him he promises to attend to it – so that, we hope, the Task you have undertaken will be rendered somewhat less irksome than it must otherwise have been –
Please to present out kindest Remembrances to our Friends at Birchfield – and believe us, ever, dear Sir,

           Your faithful and obedient Servants
